MANSFIELD Eagles supporters will be glad to know that Craig "Ned" Kelly is at the helm again and is as keen as mustard to go “back to back”.
There will be no room for complacency or premiership hangover though - as Ned said "we are now the hunted, not the hunters - there will be no easy games".
The 2010 GVFL draw (liftout on pages 18 and 31 of today’s Mansfield Courier) sees the Eagles start with a match against Shepparton United at home on April 3 followed by Tatura away, Benalla at home and Euroa away.
The round five match on May 8 against 2009 runners up Kyabram at Kyabram will be a stern test.
Training started for the players in November and apart from the Christmas break will continue right through, including three home ground practice matches in March.
This year the club is taking a much more proactive role in the promotion of junior development.
"2010 will be the year of the local kids," Kelly said.
"With the success of last year, a number of players have taken the opportunity to go and explore the world.
"The most exciting thing about this is that we will be able to replace a lot of those guys with young kids."
The junior football program in Mansfield is producing very good young talent with four or five players in the Bushrangers’ squad.
"It was a great year last year and I thank all the players and staff and sponsors for their support - let us use last year as a base from which the Mansfield Football Club goes on to bigger and better things," Kelly said.
