Three burglaries in four days

Written by EBONY D’ARCY.

BRIGHT police are urging locals to protect their valuables after a string of break-ins at Porepunkah last week.

Three residences were broken into and burgled over four days last week and cash, valuables and jewellery taken.

Bright police’s Senior Constable Jason Hewitt said the first incident happened on Sunday, November 9 and the second and third on Wednesday, November 12.

"In the first incidence they entered through an unlocked door, in the second they broke in through a back window," he said.

"With the third the front door was kicked in."

Sen Con Hewitt said cash, electrical goods, clothing and valuable jewellery were stolen from the properties, which were in close proximity to each other.

"We want anyone who is offered any goods, or anyone with information to contact the Bright police," he said.

"French and Portuguese wine was among the items stolen, which are obviously quite unique."

The first incident occurred at around 7pm and the other two between 7pm and 3am.

Sen Con Hewitt said the resident of the first house came home in time to see the burglar flee out the back door.

Police are urging residents to ensure all doors and windows are locked and valuables locked away.

Investigations are continuing.
