EIGHTEEN months ago, the Myrtleford Apex Club had just four members doing their bit to help the community.
Fast forward to 2008 and the club is thriving, recently accepting a trophy for state club of the year.
During that time the club more than doubled its numbers to 11 members and participated in a wide range of community activities.
Current president Travis Gunson and past president and district governor Doug Clifford accepted the award at a meeting last week.
Victorian state president Dean Freeman said the club’s involvement in the community, growth and willingness to participate made it the choice for state club of the year.
"The Apex club is for members of the community between the ages of 18 and 45 determined to improve themselves and give back to the community," he said.
"This club has managed to engage like-minded people in the community and continued a high level of community service."
Mr Freeman said the club was dedicated to helping the community and being involved in local, national and international projects.
